The line moves fast and the barista’s are very nice and polite. The cocoa cappuccino was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend waiting in line for an espresso drink!!!

By the name, The Coffee Movement, I was hesitant—historically, places with “movement” or “project” in the name are often skips. This one was an exception. I ordered immediately but then went back to the menu, worried I’d rushed my choice. The barista noticed my interest in a coffee and offered me a taster while I waited—a small gesture that’s so rare in San Francisco, and even rarer in coffee shops. When my order arrived, I realized I had been mistaken about making the best coffee at home. The slow drip was worth every $10, and the attentive service has me excited to come back. Don’t judge a book by its cover—or a business by its name. Thanks to the baristas for the thoughtful touch that made me write this review.

Great location on Balboa! Tried the coffee flight which was a fun experience if you like to vary things up! Baristas are friendly and knowledgeable about the long list of coffees.

# The Registry: Field Report - The Coffee Movement The streets of the Richmond District are quiet, but it’s the kind of quiet that makes a guy nervous. I needed a jolt, something to wire the mainframe and keep me sharp while I waited for a contact who was already twenty minutes late. I found myself staring down a joint called The Coffee Movement. They don’t mess around here. No velvet armchairs, no jazz softly weeping from hidden speakers. Just a stark, black slatted metal table out on the unforgiving concrete and a product that speaks for itself. Observe the photographic record. Exhibit A: The hot cup. Matte black, business-like, adorned with a clean, unassuming white logo. But look at the straw protruding from the lid. It stands at attention, straight and tall, a white plastic periscope scanning the neighborhood for approaching trouble. It’s an oddly formal arrangement for a paper cup. Exhibit B: The espresso. They pulled the lid off so I could see the engine room. The crema was a thick, rich amber—a perfect, unbroken ring clinging to the sides of the cup, hiding a dark, bitter truth beneath. It stared back at me with the intensity of a loan shark waiting for his envelope. I took a hit. It was smooth, aggressive, and entirely necessary. Exhibit C: The iced latte. My contact finally showed, gripping a clear plastic cup filled with a pale, milky beige liquid. It looked like the kind of sweet, approachable beverage a person drinks when they don’t have a care in the world. I didn't trust it, but she held it like it was the only thing keeping her grounded on a windy San Francisco afternoon. Five stars. It’s a clean operation. They hit you with the caffeine, skip the small talk, and put you right back on the pavement where you belong. Just watch your back while you sip; that black metal table leaves you completely exposed to the elements and whoever might be tailing you.

The Richmond store is Coffee Movement’s first location, and it’s been my go-to since the pandemic. I’ve always loved this spot. The signature Coffee Movement van parked out front gives it so much character, and it just feels like a classic neighborhood favorite. It’s also in a great location near Golden Gate Park, which makes it the perfect place to grab a coffee before a weekend walk in the park. Definitely one of my favorite coffee spots in the area.

Terrific third wave, stopped here on the way to cheering the SF half marathon. I love that they do the 3 way tasting, with a coffee prepared 3 ways, I had a very floral coffee. Pastries are good too.

What an awesome gem found off of yelp! I ordered: Espresso $3.00 Add On $1.00 Spro - House Retail Beans $20.00 House Blend (Frank) There was a line. Took about 10-15 min to finally order. Worth the wait! Friend wanted beans...and I can see why! Some seating inside and outside. A must visit for me if I'm ever back in the area. Parking is very tough in this area.

What an experience. I felt welcomed and right at home (as a coffee addict). I tried the trio-sampler. Sooooo good. I forgot the names of today's drips but they were wholesome, nutty, and well balanced in their fruitiness. I accompanied my sampler with a Black-seed Sesame morning bun. A nice crisp crunch followed but sweet delectable textures. I had to follow up with a quad-shot espresso. Yooooo what a pull of espresso that was. Perfect perfect perfect. Would gladly return! Show up early because parking gets a little tight and they can get a line which disappears quickly. Wonderful staff, friendly and welcoming.

A nice coffee shop in the Richmond District. It’s usually busy, and the space isn’t very large, though there is some seating available. What they’re best known for, as far as I know, is the tasting flight — three featured coffees of the day served either as different pours or prepared in different ways. They also offer several types of coffee beans. There are three workers behind the counter preparing drinks, and they work very efficiently. Orders come out quickly. We ordered the tasting flight, a cocoa cappuccino, a latte, and some pastries. I really enjoyed the tasting flight — it’s a unique way to sample three different coffees or brewing styles. It was a great experience. We usually stop by whenever we’re in the area. The prices are reasonable and affordable. I also really like their espresso machine. ☕ Parking is on the street and could be challenging near the shop.

We stopped by for a latte and tea. We were thrilled at the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful morning coffee and pastry experience. Service was streamlined and friendly. My latte was perfect as was my wife’s tea. Croissants were fresh and flaky as expected. Seating was limited but we found room for four in a corner.
